작업의 출발점은 쉽게 지나치게 되는, 소리 없고 미세한 움직임들이 포착되는 순간이다. 그곳에서 발견되는 사물 혹은 생물들의 표정은 건조하고 무덤덤하지만, 때로는 나름의 방식으로 공간을 점거하고, 요란하게 시선을 끌며 긴장감을 불러일으킨다.

고작 종이가 팔랑거리는 움직임을 구현하기 위해 길다란 몸체나 힘겨워보이는 자세의 생명체를 만들어내는 것, 길 위에서 발견한 우스꽝스럽고 멍청해보이는 사물들을 전시공간으로 불러오는 것, 언제든 마트에서 사먹을 수 있는 채소류나 다를바 없이 소비되는 가축들이 뉴스 속에서 너무나 간단하게 처분되는 장면을 다시 떠올리고 각인시키는 것. 각각의 세부적인 방향은 저마다 다르게 뻗어나갈 잠재력을 가지고 있으나 이들을 한 공간안에 배치하며 내가 기대하는 것은 조각물로 구현해내는 방식에서의 형태적 특성, 그리고 다루어지는 내용들이 우리가 쉽게 주목하지 못할 만큼 보잘 것 없고 연약한 것들의 이야기라는 커다란 공통분모이다.

나는 세상을 뒤덮고 있는 거대한 이야기들 뒤에 숨어있는 작은 존재들의 모습을 닮은, 다른 세계를 만들고자 한다. 그곳에는 견고하고 질서정연해 보이는 세계 이면의, 부서지기 쉽고 어정쩡한 존재들이 있다.

The starting point of my work is the situation where I can capture the silent and minute motions. The faces of the objects or creatures found there are dry and flat, but sometimes occupy the spaces or do create tension which attract a keen attention.

Creating long bodies or struggling creatures only to implement the movement of paper, bringing ridiculous and stupid objects found on the road into the exhibition space, and reminding and imprinting the scenes in the news that a large amount of livestock was disposed of so simply as vegetables that can be bought at any time at a supermarket. Each detail has the potential to extend differently, but what I expect from placing them in a single space is a large common denominator: the morphological nature of the way I materialize the sculpture, and the content being dealt with, the stories of the humble and fragile things that we cannot easily notice in daily life.

There is a brittle, small, clumsy existence behind the solid and orderly world. I suppose to create this certainly hidden world that resembles the small beings behind a huge voice.
